Centennial Olympic Park

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

A few inspiring images taken at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park. I waited for a clear crisp day to get the light for these images. After a cold front blows through Atlanta in the winter, all the haze and smog is gone which leaves the sky blue. These images were shot with a circular polarizing filter to enhance the blue sky and reduce glare. The images are processed as High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos with three exposures. Several passes on the image were made after toning to increase contrast and saturation in addition to high dynamic range. These images have a huge color gamut and high level of detail at a natural size of 19″ along the long edge.

This collection follows in the spirit of my South Beach collection of HDR photography inspired by the street cafe paintings of Vincent van Gogh.

My post processing for web reduces the image resolution and color gamut. Call me if you’re interested in seeing or owning the full size images. Click the [i] for more information on each photo displayed.

Just Published: “as i see it…”

Friday, August 26th, 2011

I see the world as a beautiful place! My new book, “as i see it…”, presents highlights from numerous bodies of work as a thoughtfully organized pictorial. Each collection is narrated with my personal story to share the inspiration behind the creation of the images. Collections include HDR photography from South Beach (Miami), travel photography, nature photography, fashion/beauty photography, and figurative nudes.

I love the coffee table book for photography because it allows me to share a comprehensive vision and extensive collection with a small footprint that anyone can appreciate. Of course, if you fall in love with some of the images, please contact me to acquire your own limited edition fine art print. The 80 page, hard cover book measures 13×11 inches and is printed on premium ProLine Pearl Photo Paper. This book is a limited edition and is only printed to order.

The Gift

The Gift

As a photographer, you can go out looking for something to shoot and come home disappointed and even frustrated by all your efforts when there seems to be nothing of interest out there. But every now and then you receive a gift, it is something you didn’t expect but it catches your eye and it is so compelling that you just have to stop and take the shot and it’s even better when you have your camera in hand.

As I was driving along Hwy 9 between Alpharetta and Cumming on my way back from a photo shoot of a young family, this scene caught my eye. There was no place to stop. I turned around and looked again. Finally I found a small driveway I could pull into and walk to make this photo. Most people would just keep driving by because there was no place to pull over but the determined photographer will find a way.

The late daylight cast a warm glow over the field of yellow flowers backlighting these black cattle feasting on their gift of spring. The sky had nice clouds and all the trees were lush with tender spring leaves. The timing couldn’t be more perfect. I made three bracketed exposures to create this HDR photo.

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

This image was selected from thousands of winners of the monthly Popular Photography “Your Best Shot” winners for publication in the soon to be released book from Weldon Owen publishing.

FROM THE PUBLISHER

To maintain the initial intentions and integrity of the magazine, a team of publishing experts sifted through several thousand submissions provided to Popular Photography magazine over the last few years in order to identify the best and most representative submissions to be considered for this project.

We are pleased inform you that your Contest winning Photo to Popular Photography magazine has been selected to be included Get That Shot! Popular Photography, which will be published later this year. As the book is intended to represent and index the magazines’ creme-de-la-creme examples, this will be wonderful addition to your portfolio.

The selected image that will be reprinted for Popular Photography’s first full length book ran in the April 2008 issue, showing a horse’s mane.
